The Golden Sandalye

The Golden Chair is a luxurious piece of furniture designed by Slovenian architect Nika Zupanc for the Moooi brand. The stark contrast between the modest, almost austere form that has a vintage feel to it and the vibrant hue creates a magnificent and amazing effect. The designer's study is fuelled by an internal debate with stereotypes, and her findings produce a modest notion of design with a dash of eclecticism.

The Golden Chair is constructed out of steel and features upholstery over its seat and back. It has become so iconic that it comes in a wide variety of hues, including the classic black and the shiny gold matt finish. More than 600 different choices are available for the upholstery.
